Berghain has announced plans for its upcoming Ostgut Ton Nacht, which is set to take place inside a former coal processing plant in Essen. With its Ostgut Ton Nacht the label aims to bring the experience of Berghain to outside locations, often featuring many of the club’s residents as well as up and coming talent.
This year on Halloween, October 31, Ostgut Ton Nacht is partnering with Studio Essen to deliver the event at a unique location. Mischanlage, located at the ZollVerein coal mine complex, is a former coal processing plant.
The event organizers gave details of why the building is an ideal space to hold a rave of this magnitude as it is reminiscent of Berghain itself.
“Architecturally, the spacious concrete buildings of a former coal processing plant are reminiscent of Berghain – both places are remnants of the industrial post-war Germany, which today serve cultural purposes and are characterized by naked concrete and steel interiors. Formerly part of the industrial landscape designed by architect Fritz Schupp, now the venue, the rooms were included in the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in the 1990s.”
