How much it really costs to go to Burning Man

How much does Burning Man Cost? How much money do I need to bring? Once a year, tens of thousands of people gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. In this crucible of creativity, all are welcome. Built on a philosophy of self-reliance and decommodification, the nine-day event is a experiment of sustainability. The question on many first-time Burners lips is simple: how much does it really cost to go Fortunately, the guys over at Time Magazine’s Money have worked that out. The price for Burning Man Getting There $450: Ticket + fees $427: Round-trip average airfare to Reno estimated by Hopper (or fly straight into Black Rock City for an average $1,250) $80: Vehicle pass $130: Car rental from Reno Airport (or book an $800 RV for a four-day trip) Food & Drinks $135: Covers a few fresh groceries plus a supply of dehydrated camp food packets $3:...

Dutch want to legalise xtc and regulate production

Member of parliament Kathalijne Buitenweg: "The government doesn't have to produce the xtc pills themselves, but must take control." Xtc is the most used drug after alcohol and cannabis in Dutch nightlife. "I find it inevitable that the Netherlands will also regulate the consumption of ecstasy in addition to the use of cannabis. Production must be controlled via a licensing system and only pills that meet quality requirements must be available. I say it because of public health, but also because we have to do something about the frighteningly growing power of criminals. " Multiple Dutch mayors also argue for lifting of the ban on ecstasy use. 'Who are we to say that the use of ecstasy and cannabis is worse than alcohol? Why should I, as a mayor, ban ecstasy while allowing alcohol everywhere in the city? While I know that the health effects of alcohol are far more serious? Isn't...

These people just partied 16 hours in Berghain

If you would even dare to try to take party photos at Berghain you would probably be banned to hell, or worse. I’ve seen furious bar tenders leap over the counter to kick people out who took photos of each other with their smart phones. But luckily they can’t prohibit any kind of photography outside of their sacred premises, so taking pictures of the people in front of the club is a good alternative. Recently a photo set of the people in the queue of Berghain made the rounds on the internet. And today we have a brand new one for you by young photographer and communications designer Philipp Pusch who stationed himself for several weeks in front of the famous club with his medium format camera. He has made portraits of the people who were heading home after spending 8 t0 16 hours in the techno temple. The result is a beautiful black & white...

A new 1500-capacity techno club is opening in Rotterdam, mid 2019

Rotterdam - The team behind Rotterdam venue BAR is planning to open a new and as-yet-unnamed electronic music venue in Rotterdam mid-2019. The 1500-capacity venue is locates near the Merwe-Vierhavens docks along the Nieuwe Maas river. The venue will feature two club areas and a multi-purpose space. It's a new project from the De Maatschappij Voor Volksgeluk, a collective which runs BAR. Some months ago cofounder Kristian de Leeuw told (the Dutch-language publication) 3voor12 that the project has been in the works for ten years, and the goal is to create a new "hub for electronic music." This wouldn't be the first time someone has tried to set up a club by the Rotterdam docks. A few years ago, Dance Valley organizers UDC cancelled plans to build a 6,000-capacity venue after investors pulled out.

No Loveland New Year edition this year

Amsterdam - Putting on a wide range of house and techno parties since 1995, Loveland is one of the original Dutch dance promoters. Their main event, this festival has been bringing a lineup of fresh and influential talent to Amsterdam's Sloterpark for 14 years straight. For the first time ever Loveland Festival added a second day in 2018. Claiming to have sold out every single event edition they did this year (Kingsday + ADE + Festival), one would expect Loveland has every reason for a huge celebration with New Years Eve. Traditionally they did for as long as we can remember. Sadly though, after 15+ years straight, there won't be any Loveland New Year's celebration this year. Loveland: "For the first time in years, we won't be hosting a New Year's Eve party. Although we'd love to kick off another year with you, we've chosen to focus on our events in 2019."

IM Power Station Cooling Tower — Charleroi, Belgium A grand relic to the age of coal stands near the Belgian village of Monceau-sur-Sambre, in the form of the decommissioned IM Power Plant, which was one of the largest coal burning power plants in all of Belgium.
